#throwbackthursday- A Look Back at Some of RooSpot's First Products

As RooSpot Art is coming up on it’s 6th birthday, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at six of the shop’s original items. What you are about to see is very 2013. Think chevron. But honestly, some of this old stuff really isn't so bad, and I don't think my product photos were terrible either! Ok, let's head down memory lane... 1. The My Dreams Were Cray Pillow Set I had high hopes for this pillow set. I thought it would be fun to make a bunch of different phrases so that you could mix and match and display them on your bed. Kind of like a dream journal. I made other sets that said, my dreams...

Sew Your Own Insulated Lunch Bag {TUTORIAL + FREE PATTERN}

About 3 years ago, I made an insulated lunch bag, and I feel like I’ve had healthier lunches ever since. I used to slap together a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before work, and stuff it in to any paper or plastic bag I could find.   But this lunch bag inspired me to get more creative in the kitchen, and start eating more like an adult. I also often get inspiration for new products from customer feedback. Or I get to see firsthand which products aren't working. The instant cash is great too. So before you hit those applications, here are some things to think about: 1. Does the show fit your brand? When you’re first starting out, you might want to apply for every show...

Five Things You Didn't Know About RooSpot Art

1. Roo has been my nickname pretty much my whole life. When I was younger, I always tried to keep it a secret from non-family members. I would always get super embarrassed when my family would slip up and call me Roo in public. But now I mostly own it, and only get slightly embarrassed by it! That's me in the pic circa 1990-ish, if you didn't pick up on that. 2. My first year on Etsy (2013), I only sold about 8 things. I think 7 of those were to people I know. My shop has come a long way since then! 3. I started off selling zippered pouches, pillows and some really terrible towels. I eventually invested in some higher quality towels,...
